What is the sound of concrete, glass blocks, and ceramic tiles at Chateau Neuf? Architect and sound artist Gisle Nataas invites you to a very special concert at Chateau Neuf during Oslo Culture Night. Using Chateau Neuf as a starting point, Nataas will perform a unique piece of sound art in the Library, where he records the sounds of the architecture itself and composes music based on them. The work consists of field recordings from his journey from Nesodden, where he lives, to Chateau Neuf, where the performance takes place.
“The piece is a sonic journey through a typical and beautiful cross-section of the Oslo landscape that everyone knows—or can imagine—from Nesodden, across the Oslo Fjord, into the city, and into the architecture of Chateau Neuf. Some of the field recordings I already have on my computer, while the sounds from Chateau Neuf I will have to discover and use live, on site,” the artist explains.
The work is titled From Nes to Neuf.
