Fehn/8 (NO)
Sound installation by Gisle Nataas in The Nordic House in the Faroe Islands.
Sat. 19. Aug 2023 – Sun. 03. Sep 2023
What does architecture sound like? Norwegian architect and sound artist Gisle Nataas investigates this in the sound installation Fehn/8. The installation is named after the famous Norwegian architect Sverre Fehn and is examining Fehn’s architecture sonically. Gisle Nataas has recorded sounds from Fehn’s project Storhamarlåven at Domkireodden in Hamar. Sounds of glass, concrete and metal. You can experience the work here in The Nordic House, in the room called Klingran. Here, the sounds are projected onto materials and surfaces from speakers in the ceiling. The sound of Sverre Fehn’s architecture meets the sounds of The Nordic House. Gisle Nataas is a Norwegian architect and sound artist born in Bergen and now based in Oslo. He is currently on tour with the DKS production “Architecture as an Instrument”. Gisle Nataas is a trained architect and creates sound art using field recordings from architecture and urban spaces. This is his first exhibition in the Faroe Islands.
